Richard Cabrera, 79, of Oxnard, California, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at St. John's Regional Medical Center after a short bout of pneumonia.

Richard was born September 4, 1938, in Ventura, to Amelia Ruiz Hernandez and Alberto Cabrera. Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife Bertha Moreno Cabrera, to whom he was married for 31 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Cabrera, his grandson, Logan Leibowitz, his sister Barbara Higby Hyde, his sister Margie Cabrera, his brother-in-law Barry Hyde, sisters-in-law, Sally Varela, Tillie Cobos, Elvira (Bela) Grajeda, his loving niece Yvonne Pimentel and his godson David Camacho, his close friends Bobby and Ray Zavala. He is also survived by his loving companion Nancy Orenelas and her daughters Eileen and Diane, along with his numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Richard worked very hard all his life and with everything that he did, from driving a Semi truck to working Time Warner Cable (Jones Intercable) as a Construction Technician. He was a master of many talents and enjoyed many interests. Early in life he was an avid painter and inspired many. He was interested in new technology, the latest gadgets, great food, gardening, dancing, cooking and restoring his home. He loved spending time with family and enjoyed the company and affection of his young grandson. He loved motorcycles and cars and shared his love for them with Bobby Zavala. He enjoyed sharing all his knowledge and their mutual love for the Crystal Coach Limousine business. Richard's greatest artistic passion and master skill was that of a custom painter of cars and motorcycles, and he had an artist's eye for detail. Out of his garage, he painted custom murals, pinstriping and even a 3D relief sculpture on all types of vehicles. His artistry won him 1st and 2nd trophies in competitions against professional garages. His work has been shown in Lowrider Magazine, Easyriders Magazine, Car Craft Magazine and QVO Magazine. His skills were phenomenal and he was definitely ahead of his time.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to Dr. Oldt and staff, Dr. Rothchild and Jennifer, and the Zavala family. All of them went above and beyond in helping Richard and showing him decades of patience, kindness, love, and genuine care.
