William “Bill” J. Flores (72), passed away in his sleep on April 26, 2022.
He was born July 12, 1949 in Oxnard, California, where he attended Santa Clara Grammar School and graduated from Santa Clara High School. He played football throughout his school years and stayed involved through most of his adult life in some capacity.
Bill married Theresa “Terry” Cabral in 1978 and moved up to Central California for a few years. Once their daughter was born, they came back to Oxnard to be closer to family and finally settled in Santa Paula in 1984, shortly before their son was born. They built their dream home and slowly added to the backyard to make it the perfect party spot. There was nothing he enjoyed more than being surrounded by and entertaining his family and friends.
Bill started working for the State of California in 1979 and held a few different civil service positions. He was able to combine his law enforcement career with his love of football by participating in the Cops and Jocks program for well over the time his children were in high school. Bill retired from the State in 2007 and was able to start going camping again, especially once Terry retired 5 years later.
Bill is survived by his wife, Terry, their two children Micaela (Alexander) Posch and William P. Flores, and his beloved Rottweiler, Otto.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Rachel Flores.
Bill, Billy, Coach Flores, Mr. Flores, Dad, and everyone else’s “Uncle Bill”... you were larger than life itself and have left a gaping hole in all of our hearts and lives.
Funeral mass will be held at Santa Clara Church Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 10am. There will be no cemetery service.
