Vicente Pimentel Obituary

Vicente Pimentel, 87, was called home by his Lord on January 18, 2014. He left this world peacefully with family by his side after suffering a major stroke.
He was born on July 19, 1927, in the town of San Juan de Amula, Jalisco, Mexico, to Ramon and Agripina Preciado. At the young age of eighteen, he came to the United States and eventually settled in Oxnard where he would reside until his passing. Vicente met Helen in Oxnard and they were married on October 27, 1956. They settled in Oxnard and during their forty-two years of marriage raised six children.
Vicente is survived by his daughters Juanita (Ray) Porras, Patti (John) Gillam, Sandra Pimentel, sons Vincent (Yvonne) Pimentel, Esteban (Veronica) Pimentel, Carlos (Stella) Pimentel, fifteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews.
Vicente was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, sisters Josephina, Maria, Conception, and brother Jesus.
In his early years Vicente worked in various occupations throughout California, eventually working for a metal forging company, Arcturus Manufacturing in Oxnard. He was very proud of his work at Arcturus, occasionally taking us to the work site to show us what type of work he was involved with and how his work contributed to the aerospace programs. The forging presses (hammers) at the company were some of the largest in the country and could even be heard and felt all the way to our home in Oxnard. Vicente was a diligent worker, rarely if ever missing a day of work. After more than 30 years of employment at Arcturus, Vicente retired.
Vicente's favorite pastimes included membership in the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge, family outings, deep sea fishing, barbecuing, daily walks to his favorite coffee shop, and ultimately enjoying his weekly trips to the Chumash casino. He also looked forward to his annual June trip with his LA nephews back to his home town to enjoy Las Fiestas de San Juan de Amula.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at St. John's Hospital for taking such good care of our Dad. We would also like to thank our sister in-law Veronica who tirelessly managed of our Dad's medical needs.
