Stanley Garrow Obituary

Stanley Harrison Garrow, of Ojai, passed away on March 17, 2024 after a brief illness.

Stanley was born on December 29 1926 in Springfield, Vermont, the son of Floyd and Sarah Garrow.

Stanley graduated from Plattsburgh High School in New York after which he joined the army and served in France and Austria just after hostilities ended in 1945.

After his service he earned a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the University of Denver. He then worked on the Talos Missile System at the Bendix Corporation in South Bend Indiana.  In 1968 he left Bendix and moved his family to California where he worked as a civil servant at the Naval Base in Port Hueneme, CA, until his retirement in 1987.

Stanley and his wife Melba enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, visiting family and friends in Indiana, upstate New York, and Vermont.  In addition, he enjoyed spending time with their 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, many of whom helped celebrate his 97th birthday in December of 2023. He was an avid golfer, and even had a brief stint as a golf course marshal at one of his favorite courses, Olivas Links in Ventura California.

Stanley leaves behind daughters: Barbara Arnold of Henderson NV and Valerie Garrow-Saunders of Ojai; and sons Stanley Garrow, Jr. of Lompoc, James Garrow of Ojai; and Timothy Garrow of Lewisburg WV. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Marie and their infant daughter, Suzanne Marie.

Those who knew and loved Stanley will always appreciate his dedication to family and friends, his incredible work-ethic, and his service to our Country.
