Setefano Aina was born in Fitiuta Manu'a, American Samoa on April 10, 1944 to Ailoletuna Fa'amaini Savea and Malieesea Lagai Savea. It is no wonder how he became such a family man, with twelve brothers and five sisters!
In his youth, Setefano attended Papatea Elementary School in
'Manu'a. He graduated from Samoana High School in Utulei, American Samoa.
On July 24, 1971, Setefano married his devoted wife, Tina Aina.
Together, they raised four children and were blessed with nine grandchildren. Setefano was also an important father figure to countless other nieces and nephews.
Setefano was a hard working man. He proudly served in the United States military, enlisting in the Navy Reserves at the age of twenty four. After several years, he committed as active duty. In 1974, after seven years of service, he retired from the military. He then worked as a chemical processor at Northrop Grumman, where he retired after a thirty year career.
Setefano has been a faithful member of the First Samoan Congregational Church in Oxnard since 1973. He became an A'oa'o Fesoasoani in 1983. He was a pillar of the church and the Samoan community and the absence of his leadership and guidance will be deeply felt.
On April 26, 2023, Setefano Aina entered eternal life at his home surrounded by loved ones, in Port Hueneme, California.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
