Samuel Cabello Jaramillo, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at the age of 68.
He was born on January 18, 1955 in Zináparo in the state of Michoacán, Mexico. Samuel immigrated to the United States at the young age of 15 along with his parents and several brothers and sisters and called Oxnard, California home for several years. As a young man, he did what most Mexican immigrants did, and worked in the fields following crops up and down the state of California and often out of state.
As luck would have it, he would have a better job opportunity a few years later. “Sam” or “Sammy” as he was known to some, retired as a Produce Clerk with Albertson’s Stores after 36
years of service with the company, but those who knew him well, know he started as part of the graveyard shift cleaning crew and worked his way up to the clerk position. During this time, he also had his “side hustle” where he would fix friends and family’s cars out of his garage—often resulting in an impromptu barbeque or one of his other friends setting up a barbershop while someone’s car was being worked on. Sam loved working on cars, a passion he passed on to his son and grandson.
After retirement, he spent a lot of time with his children and grandchildren and had a close circle of friends that he often socialized with. His “only vise” as he called it was smoking, but in recent years he enjoyed the occasional glass of wine. Sam was a simple, no-nonsense man that lived life on his terms and was really just a big kid a heart.
Samuel is survived by his daughter Ruth Campbell and her husband Justin and granddaughters Sophie and Emily Campbell; daughter Rocio Jaramillo and grandson Matthew Jaramillo; son Samuel Jaramillo, Jr.; and daughter Ruby Jaramillo. There are also several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins that make up a large extended family.
The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers.
