It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the unexpected passing of our father, Rudy Z. Marin. He was taken suddenly to be with Our Lord on August 4, 2019. Rudy was born to Pablo and Dolores Z. Marin, in Oxnard, CA and was raised in the (Colonia) area, along with his seven brothers and two sisters. He was very athletic during his school years. Rudy also played Varsity Basketball while attending Oxnard High School. He was a student at Ventura College. Our dad was a bookworm, he was always educating himself with life in general.

Rudy went on to work for the County of Ventura as a Harbor Patrolman. He retired, and he then took on a part-time Security job to keep himself busy. He also enjoyed jogging, going to the gym to weight-lift, and loved to Barbecue, and attending any festivities that were taking place in the community. Rudy also loved the beach, and taking cruises up the coast listening to his favorite tunes, and would go back home and loved to cuddle with his pet chihuahua (Chico). He was a very Strong, kind, humble, and compassionate man, and was always willing to help family, and those that were less fortunate.

Rudy married the love of his life, Vera Marin on January 2,1969. They had their first-born baby girl, Gloria Marin, their second daughter Dina Marin, their third daughter Diane Marin, and their only son, Erik Marin. He was very proud and loved his family, and was a very dedicated husband and father. Growing up our Pop always said, “in life you gotta have the three D’s; Desire, Determination, and Dedication” This is something that we will always live by.

Rudy was a very proud grandfather to Monique Chavez being his first grandchild, whom he referred to as his Muñeca, the daughter of Gloria. Monique loved to be with her grandfather, they enjoyed going on bike rides, going to church, and also going to the harbor spending time together. He was the father figure in her life and they had a beautiful unbreakable bond. His second grandchild, Shawn Logan, is the son of Rodney and Dina. Rudy was very proud of his grandson Shawn. He always admired how well-mannered he was, he enjoyed watching him dance, and play his guitar, Rudy always said how intelligent and what beautiful boy Shawn was and that he would grow up to be somebody. He loved his grandson so very much.

Rudy also enjoyed having a good conversation and talking sports while having a drink or two with his son-in-law Rodney, whom he well respected and loved. They always had a great time together and Rudy was proud to call him his Son-in-law. He looked forward to seeing them when they came in from out of state.

Anthony Marin “Little Anthony” was Rudy’s favorite nephew. Anthony was great presence in our father’s life and would always come over to see Uncle Rudy and spend time with him. Anthony always helped him and the family in any way needed. Rudy knew he could count on him for anything and Anthony never let him down. He loved him as if he was his own grandson.

Our father also had a fondness towards two new additions to our family. Mary Claudia Ramirez and Rudy had a special connection, they enjoyed each others company and would talk about anything and everything and of course always laughing telling jokes. He always looked forward to seeing her. Michael Duran was someone our father also loved to see and spend time with. Rudy felt secure in knowing what a good, honest, and respectable man Michael was, and he knew if needed Michael he was always there.

Rudy is proceeded in death by his parents, Pablo and Dolores Z. Marin, sister ; Mary Casillas, brothers; David Z. Marin, Richard Marin and Manuel Marin. And Finally his only son Erik Marin, Whom he dearly missed and loved. They are now together in God’s loving arms.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Marin and his three daughters; Gloria, Dina (Rodney) and Diane. And grandchildren; Monique and Shawn.

Our father Rudy will be truly missed by his three loving daughters, who stood right by his side until the very end. We love you so much Pop, we will miss seeing your beautiful smile until we are all together again.
