Robert William Strother

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the departure of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and dedicated friend, Robert William Strother on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at the age of 43. Robert was born to Michael Strother and Victoria Lewis on March 1, 1980, in Oxnard, CA and was a lifelong resident of Ventura County. He graduated from Oxnard High School in 1998 and was self-employed as a Barber known as “Rob the Barber” and worked as a Casual Longshoreman for the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, Local 46.
Robert is survived by his wife, Delilah Monique Strother, having met 24 years ago; his daughter, Leilah Danae Strother; and son, Robert William Strother II. Robert’s memory will also continue to be cherished by his father, Michael Strother; his three brothers, Mark Strother (wife, Brianna), Gregory Lewis-Strother and Ronald Lewis; and his two sisters, Danielle Lewis and Jasmine Lewis. Additional dearest survivors are maternal grandmother, Doretha Lewis and paternal grandmother, Mary Alice Strother; sister-in-law Claudine Strother; nieces Deija (Xion/Xariyah), Bas and Malia; and nephew, Mark Jr. Robert also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends mourning his loss. He was preceded in death by his lovely mother Dr. Victoria Lewis-Kates, older brother Michael Strother II, niece Alyssa Strother, and grandfathers Robert W. Lewis II and Maceo Strother.
Often described as a Teddy Bear, Rob had a warm spirit that comforted all whom he encountered. He found joy in supporting his children’s extracurricular activities, such as their sports, school events, OHS Band and sports clubs. He loved running marathons, photography, and had a green thumb for nurturing plants. Rob loved his children, and adored his wife and all those that came to know his compassionate and gentle nature. Rob was always going above and beyond to help others. He will be immensely missed by all and will be greeted in heaven by his adored family members who left before him. Rob, fly with the Angels; this is not a goodbye, but see you later. We shall meet again.
Memorial services for Robert will be held on Saturday May 27, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church, 850 Ivywood Dr, Oxnard, CA 93030, viewing will be from 10 AM to 12 PM with the prayer service beginning at 12 PM. The family is encouraging those who plan to attend to wear shades of blue; we want it to be a sea of blue. Celebration of Robert’s life will be held immediately following memorial services.
