On August 13, 2024 Ralph A. Arellano died at his Gardena residence. He was born June 17, 1961, the 5th child of Rafael N. Arellano and Josefina A. Arellano, at the old St. John’s hospital in Oxnard.
Growing up he enjoyed spending time playing with his siblings, listening to the top music count downs, going for long drives, picnics on the weekends with family, and all the small moments most take for granted. He loved animals and the beauty of nature, had a soft spot for people in need, and was very protective of those he loved. Ralph enjoyed reading about other places and people, and always enjoyed a good conversation. His face would light up with joy when his sister and her friends would come for a visit. He expressed all these things in his love for drawing. Though his medical challenges limited his ability to do things, he never failed to be interested in the world and especially in the welfare of the people for which he deeply cared. His smile, his loving and fun nature will be very much missed by his friends and especially by his only sister, Emily.
He is survived by his brothers: Rey (Rowena) Arellano of Austin, Texas; Leo (Arlene) Arellano of San Francisco; Ceasar (Betty) Arellano of Sherrard, Illinois; and sister, Emily Arellano Jones of Oxnard; and various nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 27 at Reardon Funeral Home, 511 North A St., Oxnard. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 28 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 2511 South C St., Oxnard. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery, Oxnard.
