It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Paul Beardshear on April 13, 2023 in Oxnard, California. Born on April 16, 1925, in Sioux City, Iowa to Frank and
Marguerite Beardshear, Paul was the oldest of three children. Raised on a farm in Homer, Nebraska he learned what hard work was at a young age and how rewarding it is. By the age of
16, Paul had lost both of his parents and was on his own. At 16 he got a job working as a mechanic at a Ford garage and then at 18 years old he was drafted into World War 2. In the war
Paul was B-17 flight engineer and flew 32 bombing missions over Grafton Underwood, England. Paul served in the service for 20 years and was a part of the 384 th Bomb Group.
Paul moved to Oxnard in 1964 and opened up Paul’s Auto Service on the corner of Oxnard Boulevard and Cooper Road. He trained many mechanics and made many connections through
that. Paul owned a total of 10 houses in his lifetime and helped many people through renting out his homes. Paul was a part of the Oxnard Lions Club then, with a group of other members, they
started the Channel Island Lions club in 1969 and he was a member of the club for the remainder of his life. He was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP). In the CAP, Paul was a captain
pilot, and he did search and rescue missions as well as maintenance on the aircraft. Anyone who knows Paul knew how much he loved to dance. He was an avid dancer and won
many ballroom dancing trophies. Paul and his girlfriend Lillian Lopez (29 years) would take dancing lessons from Karen Hermanson and go out dancing. Paul would go to the German Club
dance held at the Knights of the Columbus. Many family members and friends remember getting to go to the club with Paul and Lillian and getting to dance with them.
Paul is preceded in death by Frank and Marguerite Beardshear (parents), Richard Beardshear (son) and Lillian Lopez (girlfriend). Paul is survived by his siblings Margy Beardshear and
Marvin Beardshear. His children Mary Hibbs (Bob), Theresa Beardshear, and Christopher Beardshear. His grandchildren Holly Collison (Jay), Joe Beardshear (Lorissa), Sarah Loop
(Scott), Jason Hixson, Brandilyn Beardshear-Woods (Frank), Scott Beardshear (Roanna), Robert Hibbs (Jennifer), and Timothy Hibbs (Heidi). His great-grandchildren Jacob Ruiz, Mercedes
Collison (Kevin), Rachel Collison, Justin Beardshear, Jacob Woods, Brooklyn Beardshear, Baylee Elias (Kadin), Jenna Hibbs, Haley Hibbs (Cheyanna), Conner Hibbs, Katlyn Hibbs, Grace Beardshear, Lorlie Beardshear, and Paul Beardshear. Paul had one great great-grandchild Dutton Hibbs.
