Norma “Jean” Gardner

Jean Gardner, age 99 of Oxnard passed away peacefully on September 13th, 2021. Jean was born on January 7, 1922 in Rapid City, South Dakota.  Jean was a resident of Ventura County for 75 years.

She served as a dental assistant for 35 years. She assisted Dr. French, DDS from 1955 to 1988. Upon Dr. French’s retirement, Dr. Richard Sipes bought his practice and Jean stayed another two years, 1988 to 1990. Following her retirement from Dental assisting, Jean resumed job of caring for children, which she had done previously from 1945-1950 in her home in Ojai, California. Jean’s two passions in life were flowers and children. She cared for countless children in her home over the years, as well as enjoying her own seven grandchildren.

Jean is survived by her son Mark Gardner (Maria Balarezo), Daughter Susan Adams (Keith Adams), 7 Grandchildren: Sarah Gardner, Jessica Gardner, Amanda (Gardner) Massey, Natalie (Gardner) Flores, Brooke (Adams) Brandt, Brian Adams, and Jack Adams. 4 Great Granddaughters: Alison, Riley, and Violet Brandt, and Cameron Massey. Two brothers: Eldon Davies of Tucson, AZ, and Darrell Davies of Rapid City, SD., and numerous nieces and nephews throughout the U.S.

Jean was preceded in death by her loving and devout husband, Hal R. Gardner, who passed on March 17, 2012. They were married for 67 years.
