Nathaniel B Basil

Nathaniel Basil, of Oxnard, CA went home to be with his Lord and Savior
on Thursday, September 24, 2020. He passed away peacefully with his
wife and children at his side. He was 81 years old at the time of his
passing after a prolonged illness. He was born on November 12 in the
Philippines. He met his wife in Chicago in 1966. They married in 1968.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for over 20 years until his retirement
in 1986. He continued working in Civil Service. He was a resident of
Ventura County for 42 years coming from Mississippi after the U.S. Navy
assigned him to Port Hueneme Base.
Nat was a devoted husband, father, and G’pa who served his country and
family well. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his family, fishing, and
golfing.
Nathaniel is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Luz Basil; daughters, Vivian Moore (Ernie)
of Oxnard, and Candee Ayala (Ricardo), of Ventura; grandchildren Sierra Moore, Eli Moore,
Isaac Basil, Maya Ayala, and Olivia Ayala.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family memorial service will be held on Saturday, October
17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The family extends sincerest thanks for
kindnesses and continued prayers.
