December 4, 1947 ~ July 17, 2021 (age 73)

Obituary

Melesio R. Chavez tragically left us on July 17, 2021, at the age of 73, surrounded by his wife and daughters.

He was born December 4, 1947, in Jiquilpan, Jalisco, Mexico, to his parents Pablo and Wilehalda Chavez. He moved to Oxnard in 1972 where he met his wife Lucy and spent the last 49 years as a resident of Oxnard. He worked as a nursery foreman at Kawaguchi Nursery and medically retired in 1989 after suffering a brain aneurysm.

He enjoyed gardening, daily walks around the neighborhood, watching reruns of the Dodger games, spending time with family and really enjoyed casino hopping. He is survived by his wife Lucy of 43 years. His daughters Christina (Danny) Perez, Sonia (Dennis Ortiz), grandchildren, Brianna, Daniel, Mikayla, Sofia and Denise. Also survived by his sister Maria Felix Diaz, numerous nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and extended family and friends.

We are forever grateful for the ICU staff at VCMC, especially his nurses, Space, Sonia, Daniel, Dr. Ahoubim and Dr. Arams.

Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 7pm at Reardon Funeral Home, 511 N A Street, Oxnard, Ca, 93030. Burial mass will be celebrated Thursday July 29, 2021 at 11 am, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 500 N Juanita Ave. Oxnard, Ca 93030. Burial to follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.
