Mary M. Ybarra

Mary Magdalena Ybarra, 92, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 6, 2023. 

Magdalena was born on July 6, 1930 to Marcelino Raygoza and Angela Castellano in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico. She married Tony Flores Ybarra on August 17, 1946 and together they raised six children. Gramma Lena (as she was called by her grandchildren) devoted her life to the love and care of her family. She was a very creative and inventive woman.  She found happiness in gardening, sewing, baking, and the power of prayer and healing others. Whenever she had the opportunity, she loved visiting the Chumash Casino and scratching lottery tickets. But most of all, giving lots of hugs and kisses to her many grandchildren filled her heart with joy. 

Magdalena is survived by her five children; Tony Ybarra Jr. (wife, Barbara), Vincent Ybarra (wife, Teresa), Jessie Y. Hernandez (husband, Richard), Mary Ann Y. Wrather (husband, Darryl), and Linda Ybarra; grandchildren, Michael Ybarra (wife, Tracey), Vincent Ybarra Jr., Gina H. Garcia (husband, Albert), Jessica H. Vasquez (husband, Josue), Monique Flores, Tara Flores, and Brittney D. Ybarra (husband, Eric); great grandchildren Marisa Y. Lopez (husband, Alejandro), Mikayla Y. Trujillo (husband, Christoper), Diego  Garcia, Kathryn Vasquez, Alina Garcia, Joshua Vasquez, Jack Jewell, and Caleb Ybarra; and great great grandchildren Elliot Lopez and Isabel Lopez.

Magdalena was preceded in death by her husband Tony F. Ybarra and her daughter Mary Lou Ybarra. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 7 p.m., Thursday, February 16, at the Reardon Funeral Home in Oxnard. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, February 17, at the Mary Star of the Sea Church in Oxnard. Burial will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Reardon Funeral Home, 511 North A. St., Oxnard.
