It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Maria “Gene” Eugenia Ramos, age 61, on December 30, 2024, at her home in Oxnard, California. Maria Gene was born on January 19, 1963, in La Piedad, Michoacan, Mexico, to Maria De La Luz Solorio and Raul Ramos.
Maria Gene was a dedicated loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend who made an enduring impact on all who knew her. A faithful Christian touched the lives of many children as she was part of St. Anthony’s Religious Education program for many years. It was here that she wanted to learn more about the written word and began to hold a personal a deeper understanding and carried a spiritual relationship with our Lord, she joining a couple of Bible study groups as part of New Life Church. She enjoyed being present at Bible study, listening to Christian music, and sharing testimonies with anyone who would listen, especially her family. Her faith was centered in her life and her favorite scripture which she often shared with mom, (Psalm 91, Joshua 1, and John 14) as they comforted each other.
Maria Gene had a deep love for family, cherished every opportunity to share special moments with her loved ones. She was a regular attendee at her nephews’, great-nephews’, events, and exploring parks with great-grand-niece Arya, offering support and encouragement. She found joy in knitting and crocheting, often creating blankets, hats, and scarves for cancer patients, and participating in boutique sales benefiting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
Maria Gene is survived by her mother Maria De La Luz Solorio Ramos, sister, Irma Ramos Rivera, nephews Ray Rivera (and wife Jennifer Rivera) John Rivera (and wife Johanna Trujeque), great nephew Xavier Rivera, and great–niece Arya Luz Rivera. She is preceded in death by her beloved sister Luz aria Dominguez, her father Raul Ramos, grand-parents and various aunts and uncles all of whom she cherished.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025 from 10:30-11:30 a.m., service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at New Life Community Church, 12251 N. Rice Ave., Oxnard. Burial will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery, 2511 North H St., Oxnard. Reception to follow at Msgr. Condon Center at St. Anthony’s Church 2511 South C St., Oxnard.
The family wishes to thank all of the family and friends who supported Maria Gene physically, emotionally, and most important spiritually throughout her journey.
