Marguerite Cargill Obituary

Marguerite May Cargill tragically left us on July 10, 2021 at the age of 51.  She was a resident of Bell Canyon, California in Ventura County.

She was born on November 4, 1969 in Niskayuna, New York and spent many years in Hawaii as a child before moving to southern California to embark on an amazing career as  a gifted visual effects compositor, with credits stretching back to the 90s on movies like Contact, Stuart Little, What Lies Beneath.  More recent work was largely in the commercial space with advertising agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Apple, TBWA/Media Arts Lab, 72 and Sunny, Enso, Publicis, Deutsch LA, and Team One.  She was very passionate about her work, and you could find her at studios in Los Angeles such as Digital Domain, Company 3, Nomad, Method Studios, WoodShop, Mirada, NTropic, Framestore, Brewster Parsons/Kevin, and Parliament. As a freelancer, she excelled not only technically (as she had an incredible eye) but also in building a sense of team, inspiring confidence, and wrangling client expectations.  She was well-known for doing things the right way and equally well-known for using her well-honed wit to keep even the tensest of situations light.  You could always find her at a studio by following the sound of laughter.

Marguerite was dedicated to her only daughter Sarah, who she loved more than anything in the world. She was both a fierce advocate and loving mother.  She was passionate about ensuring Sarah received all the resources available to her. Her favorite moments were her mommy time with Sarah when she would take her to the park, or simply head out for neighborhood walks and was thrilled to participate in her horse therapy and share her love for horses with her.

She lived in Bell Canyon for 17 years after living in Venice, California in the early stages of her career.  Marguerite was a true lover of any and all animals and welcomed many rescue cats and dogs into her home.  She was a gifted photographer and is most proud of her recently acquired pottery skills and the beautiful pieces she created.  She was an avid reader and collector of books and cookbooks that reflected her many interests and skills.

She is survived by her beloved husband Alex Hegedus and her beautiful daughter Sarah Margaret, the light of her life who will forever miss her mother and their nightly routine of reading together; her aunt Jo Piltz a resident of Hawaii, her in laws, Alexander A. and Zenaida Hegedus of Vineland, New Jersey, her sister in law Sandra Bispo of Vineland New Jersey, and sister in law and spouse, Lisa Hegedus Quinlan and Bill Quinlan of Chicago, Illinois, and her nieces and nephews, Isabella, Zachary, Matthew and Brandon Bispo of Vineland, New Jersey, and Billy and Jane Quinlan of Chicago, Illinois.

She is the loving daughter of Marguerite Piltz (deceased) and Alcimus Sidney Cargill.  Granddaughter of the late Marguerite Kiesel Piltz.
