We lost our beloved mother, Lois Edythe Loomis on June 1, 2022. This sweet, thoughtful, generous, fun loving soul was a breast cancer survivor and unfortunately had numerous health issues for a number of years, but she was a fighter. Mom passed away in her/our home surrounded by her family and caregiver, Isabel Garcia. Kind and loving, she never missed a birthday, always loved the holidays and loved us totally and completely. Maggie, Kenny, Cameo, and Brie were blessed to have had her live with them the past 12 years.

Mom graduated from San Ramon high School in 1953. She was in the High School band and played a mean clarinet. She also played the piano and sang like an angel. She loved to swim,
write and read. She loved archery and was very good at the sport. She also loved baking, canning and cooking. She enjoyed wine tasting and tea. She was a fantastic painter and crocheted baby caps for the local hospital near her home in Ione, California. She was a gifted seamstress and also made beautiful jewelry. She was very sociable and loved a good party. She
also loved to eat! Her special place to visit was our/her cabin in Tahoe and going for a sail on the Tahoe Queen. She went on a fabulous cruise to Alaska with her sister Carol, Cousin Donna
Bolla and Niece Sherri. In 2010, we moved her from Ione, California to Oxnard so she could be near the ocean that she loved.

Her favorite color is purple and flowers are roses.

Mom was a devoted employee at Cal Trans until her and her husband, Joe, retired. She was an honorary member of the Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity and was confirmed in the Santa Clara Parish Catholic Church in 2012. She volunteered at St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard and was a member of the Camarillo Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Lois (mom) is survived by her children, Margaret (Maggie) Tougas and her husband Ken Tougas from Oxnard, California; Kathryn Andre and her husband Thomas Andre from Troutdale, Oregon; Patricia Jensen and her husband Reid Jensen from Covina California; Grandchildren Brieann O’Neill, Cameo Federico, Brandon Steinhauer and Kennedy and Meaghan Jensen; Her sister Carol Hysom from Grass Valley, California and brother Richard Heinemann from the Bay area in California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and both her parents.

Friends and family are invited to say a final goodbye to Lois at the Santa Clara Roam Catholic Church, 323 South E Street Oxnard at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 30, 2022. For information or
questions, please call Maggie Tougas at 805-415-0020.

Flowers can be donated to the Santa Clara Church.

My Mother’s Presence
My mother's presence always warmed our home
with peace and security and love.
She was like a gentle breeze that wafted through
Setting things right, creating a haven for us all.
Whatever problems we had, Mom solved them.
Whatever triumphs we had, Mom celebrated them.
Whatever needs we had, Mom fulfilled them.
Surely such a mother could never drift far
From those she loved with all her heart.
Though she has left her earthly body behind,
I feel her presence still.
Mom remains close to me, she knows my sorrow,
And she enfolds me in invisible arms I can still feel,
And she comforts me.
