Larry Arias passed away on August 2, 2025 surrounded by his family and friends. He was born and raised in Oxnard, growing up on Roderick Avenue where he formed many cherished, lifelong friendships and wonderful memories. He was the beloved son of James and Hortense Arias.
Larry graduated from Santa Clara High School, Class of 1967, and went on to attend the University of Arizona in Tucson. In 1971, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and proudly served as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division.
Larry loved traveling, especially his yearly family trips to Yosemite, as well as visits to Las Vegas, New York, and Florida. He loved sports and was a lifelong, loyal Dodgers fan. Above all, his greatest joy in life was his grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness. His love of life was infectious, as was his warm, welcoming smile.
He is survived by his daughter, Monica Arias (Frank Cantero); grandchildren: Frankie, Jacob, Anyssa, and Noah; great-grandson, Matthew; son, Scotty Steffey (Myra); sister, Cindy Holden; nieces: Nicole Baker (Jason), Kylee, and Hailey; and nephews: Colton Baker, Brian Aeder, Dustin Holden (Paige), and Forrest Holden.
Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
