Joseph Carlos Camacho

Joseph C. Camacho, 78, passed away Friday, October 8, 2023 in Oxnard. He was born April 17, 1945 in Madera and was a 30-year Ventura County resident, moving here from Vallejo. He lived in Oak View.

Aside from being the world’s greatest handyman, Joe was an electrician and worked at Mare Island Shipyard in Vallejo and the CBC Naval Base in Port Hueneme, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed golf, gardening, vintage cars (especially his ’66 Corvette Stingray), and scuba diving. Joe was also a 49er and Giants fan and a member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Church, the Elks Lodge, the National Guard, and the Southern California Golf Association.

He is survived by his partner of 28 years, Gracie; sisters, Carmen Santos of Chicago, IL, Esther Camacho Mars of Fairfield, and Virginia Fereday of Vallejo; brother Richard Camacho of Fairlawn, VA; 6 nieces and nephews; 10 great nieces and nephews; and 1 great-great nephew.
