Jose "Joe" Lucero Sr.

Jose “Joe” Lucero Sr., 75, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones after a lengthy illness. He was born November 26, 1948 to Valentin and Augustina Lucero in Oakland, CA and, when he was 5 years of age, his family moved to Ventura County.

He worked for Seaboard Lemon Association (now Saticoy Lemon Packing House) for 35 years until retiring in 2010.

Joe was a big sports fan, his favorite teams being the L.A. Lakers, San Francisco Giants, Denver Broncos, and the UCLA Bruins.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Emily Lucero; daughters Vivian (John) Maestas and Michelle (Michael) Lucero-Lopez; grandchildren: Jonathan Ortiz, Yvonne and Yvette Lucero, Gabby Lopez, Jamie L. Maestas, and Mikaela and Daniel Lopez; great-grandchildren: Mia, Michael Jr., and Joseph; as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces. He was preceded in death by his son Jose “Jojo” Jr.; brothers: Julian, Augie, and Alex Lucero; and his parents Valentin and Augustina Lucero.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10 at Reardon Funeral Home, 511 N. A St., Oxnard. Rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday December 11 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 500 N. Juanita Ave., Oxnard.
