John was born in Inglewood, California, graduated from Hawthorne High School and attended Moorpark College. He enjoyed discussing politics, camping, the outdoors, and his dog Chiquita. John had a great sense of humor and enjoyed laughing. He was also a very kind and compassionate man.
John was a 20-year veteran of the Air National Guard. He proudly served at the 146th Airlift Wing in the Medical Group, Force Support Squadron, and the Communications Flight and earned the friendship and respect of many of his fellow service members. John also deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
He passed away on Friday, September 4th in St. John’s hospital with his wife and friends by his side. Those of us fortunate enough to have known John consider themselves blessed. It was a privilege to be called his friend and we will all miss him. However, he is now with his Savior Jesus Christ and those who share his faith will see him again.
John is survived by his wife Edna, mother Eleanora, and his sisters Kim and Janet. He was predeceased by his father, John Maxwell, Sr. and sister Lee.
