Jesus "Tony", "Big Tone" Antonio Alvarado

It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we let you know that Jesus Alvarado, known to everyone as Tony or Big Tone, passed away on February 20, 2023 in Ventura, CA after a brief illness. He was 41 years old. Tony was dad to Martha, our son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and also a Friend to everyone. Tony had a big and generous heart and gave us so many memories that we will forever cherish.
Tony was born in El Centro, CA on May 25, 1981 and at the age of 4 moved to Oxnard with his mother, Becky, and brother, Bobby, when “we married” Leonard Hull. Tony attended Mary Law Private School and graduated from Hueneme Christian School. Over these years, he was a Boy Scout and he played CBC Baseball from T-ball through Majors divisions, and took much pride in being a part of the championship team that won it all his final year of participation. Tony was also an avid fan of Ventura College men’s basketball, especially during the Coach Phil Mathews’ years. He was very proud and honored to carry the VC Flag as he led the teams out on to the floor. Tony graduated from Oxnard High School in 1999, where he was Senior Prom King and voted Class of ’99 Party Animal. He also played baseball at OHS all four years, earning the Coach’s Award his senior year. Tony was a very loud fan of sports and showed this enthusiasm at Santa Clara High School, where his younger brothers played football and basketball, and this is where he started his mantra “ALL DAY” that he eventually had tattooed on his shins.
Tony was spiritual and very caring and took pride in how he treated others around him, always wanting to make sure everyone was happy and taken care of. Tony did a variety of jobs over his life,
and when he worked for a local hot rod shop, he drove the company’s truck and trailer cross country several times to hot rod shows throughout the USA. Tony spent a few years working for Toppers and his last few years working at PizzaMan Dans. We received many comments from patrons remembering how Tony always greeted them with a smile and took care of them like family.
There were so many events throughout his life that he shared with others, but none were more important than the many he spent with his daughter, Martha. He always said that she was “his light” and that she was “the biggest blessing in his life.” In June 2022, Martha spent several weeks with her daddy, making memories at so many exciting places including Disneyland and Universal Studios.
In addition to his “family of friends,” whom many believe is probably half of Oxnard, Tony will be deeply missed by his daughter, Martha Alvarado (age 8), her mother, Marisol Gonzales; his mom
and dad, Leonard and Becky Hull; his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Monica Hull and their children, Bella, Emma and Robert; his brothers and sister, Felipe, Adan, and Avelina Hull; his sisters, Jessica and Jeanette Alvarado; his biological father, Jesus G. Alvarado Jr.; and numerous Santillan, Escalera, Hull, and Alvarado tios, tias, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Tony was loved by all and he loved us…ALL DAY!
Viewing and Rosary will be at Reardon Funeral Home on Thursday, March 9, from 5:00 to 9:00pm with the Rosary at 6:30pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, March 10, at Santa Clara Church and
the burial will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery. A Celebration Of Life will be held at the Elks Lodge that afternoon. All of the above will be in Oxnard.
