Jessie C. Gonzalez, 98, of Oxnard, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, January 30, 2020.  Jessie was born on May 31, 1921, in Oxnard, California and remained here as a lifetime county resident.  As a first-generation American pioneer, her first home was Adobe 24 at the former American Sugar Beet Factory in Oxnard.  For most of her life, Jessie worked at Sunkist Lemon in Oxnard.  This is where she met her life-long partner, Jose.  She was most proud of her only child, Lydia Williamson, who she showered with love.  Chuy, as she was also known, also enjoyed spending time and “babysitting” all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Throughout her century of life, Chuy loved spending time with her sister Margaret Cabral Juarez, enjoying their lives through each decade.  Later in life, she found great comfort in lunch and dinner “dates” with Margaret, Lydia, and her cousin Josie (Pepina) Banuelos and other family members.

She is survived by her husband Jose Gonzalez; daughter, Lydia; brothers, Armando and Carlos; grandchildren, Joey, Amina, Candie, Bobby, Michael, Brian, and Steven; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and cousins.

Chuy lived a long life and brightened the lives of everyone she met. She blessed her loved ones before any trip to make sure they remained safe. Chuy will be missed but will now join her father, mother, brother, sister and other relatives in peace.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the Reardon Funeral Home Chapel, 511 North “A” St., Wednesday, February 12 from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m., with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 13, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  Burial will follow Mass at Santa Clara Cemetery.
