Jakob Matthew Austin Alfrey passed away at the age of 6 on Wednesday, June 7th following a 2.5-month battle with a virus that attacked his lungs.
Jakob was born in Galveston, Texas on October 17th, 2016 to Kristen. Jakob is survived by his parents, Aaron and Kristen Riffle, as well as his brother, Nathan. Jakob had multiple sets of grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, and uncles that loved him dearly. He was loved by his dogs, Skye and Sage, as well as his cat, Luna.
Jakob was a happy, strong-willed, brave, and kind little boy. Despite dealing with insurmountable health challenges since birth, he was an overcomer time and time again. We always called his miraculous turnarounds “Pulling a Jakob”. He lived life with limitless excitement. Jakob had never met a stranger. He brought tremendous joy to the simple things of life and often to those around him. Jakob loved being a big brother to his baby brother, Nathan and was very excited to meet his newest little brother, Milo, who we are expecting in November. Jakob loved school, the park, being outside, and playing video games. He wanted to make video game YouTube videos when he grew up and to be a doctor.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 14th @ 2:00 at Reardon Funeral Home, 511 N. A Street in Oxnard, California. A small gathering at the beach will follow, that will include sharing stories and some of Jakob’s favorite things.
