We are incredibly saddened by JP’s passing. She was such a bright light in a sea of darkness.
JP was a self-proclaimed Valley Girl, born in Van Nuys, California October 4, 1953. She loved New York, however, and it was her home away from home. She loved going to San Diego for Comic-Con for the last six years.
Her favorite movie was Alien. Her favorite color was green. Her favorite era of music was the 50s and 60s.
As JP would say, “I am an out-of-the-box thinker, graphic designer, writer as well as an accomplished artist. Called by Emerging Artists as an, “'American Classic' for her amazing painting & drawing skills", I was compared to Andrew Wyeth because of my painting style; I am a true renaissance individual working in today's art world.”
JP’s been creating art since she was a child always observing the world around her.
JP loved her adventures with her children. With her son, James Paul, they would find the coolest pieces of treasure to sell at Trade shows and worked on opening a business together someday. They shared so much together, were as thick as thieves, doing almost everything together, from grocery shopping, the movies, to once in a lifetime events, like concerts and conventions! With her daughter, Abby, they loved horror movies and true crime docu-dramas. Abby loved helping JP set up her various painting classes and painting parties. Among Abby’s friends, JP was known as “Mama JP.” JP was always the life of the party.
JP did it all:
-Teaching art classes at Michaels.
-Hosting painting parties.
-Joining art groups to broaden her understanding of abstract art.
-Demonstrating her pour paintings for HPC’s first anniversary!
-Participating in Ventura’s First Fridays at the Bell Arts Factory.
-Showcasing her artwork at Paddy’s Bar every fourth Sunday.
-Finally participating in San Diego’s Comic-Con’s Art Show in 2019.
With Covid-19, she discovered online art shows via Instagram’s Story feature. She was able to show her artwork with the world! All of her virtual shows can still be viewed on her Instagram: @jpdenyer.
She was planning on returning to displaying her art in person once restrictions were lifted.
She is survived by her beloved children Abby and James, her mom, Marylou, her brother Jim, her sister Circe, so many nieces, nephews and cousins, many wonderful friends and of course, her cherished dog, Buddy!
James, her son, created a collaborative Spotify Playlist https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7gTmRlmJbt4fbV1VSHjCwe?si=a82A54I3T1egkGsOIyv_zg Please add your favorite song that reminds you of JP.
“Be Still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10.
The Celebration of Life for JP is being held at the Reardon Funeral Home, but due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the service is going to take place outside.
