J.D. Culverson

In Loving Memory of J.D. Culverson age 75 who passed away on June 20, 2019 in Oxnard, CA.  J.D. was born in Fort Smith, AR.  on February 4, 1944 where he lived until moving to Lancaster, CA. in 1955 where he spent most of his life.  JD was in the Navy from 1962 to 1967. He married his wife of 54 years on June 13, 1965.    He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many people that knew him.  J.D. is survived by his wife Billie, sons; Scott his fiancée Dee and their children and grandchildren, Ron his daughter Jessica, fiancée Lori and her daughter Anita, Gary his wife Jean and their 3 children and 3 grandchildren, Daughter Denise her husband Holt Williams Jr. their 4 children and 11 grandchildren, siblings Larry Culverson and family, Harold Culverson and family and Joyce Parker and family.  J.D. was preceded in death by his mother Norma Jean Huggins, sisters; Dolly McWilliams and Ruth Hildebrand.

J.D. left the Navy in 1967, then he learned to drive truck which became his career for more than 35 years. He included his family in many trips that he had to make especially during the summer, the truck became like a second home to the whole family.  He loved to drive truck so much that he taught Scott and Gary to drive along with many other friends and family.  

J.D. loved to go on vacations that had anything to do with trains and nature or just anything that had to do with family and fun.  He loved to take day trips to the mountains and any time it rained with his wife or family, when J.D. moved to Oxnard, Ca he loved driving around to see the sites and the coast also feeding the squirrels, ducks and seagulls at the pier.  

J.D. loved family and life and there wasn’t a person that he met that he didn’t make friends with his outgoing and upbeat personality was usually the life of the party so help us celebrate his life.

A memorial for J.D. is going to be held on July 7,2019 at Reardon Funeral Home, 511 North A. Street, Oxnard, CA. 93030 at 2pm.

Immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Reception at River Ridge Golf Club at 2401 W Vineyard Ave., Oxnard, Ca 93036 at 315pm
