Irene Hiler Obituary

Our hearts are broken today as we have lost the most precious person in the world to us. Our beautiful Mother Irene Hiler. Mom passed away at the age of 84 years old at Pleasant Valley Hospital Camarillo November 21, 2022, with family by her side.

Irene was born February 21,1938 in Bronte, Texas to parents of Kelly Haselden & Flossie Lackey. The Haselden family includes older brother Joseph and younger sister Thelma.
In 1952 The family moved from Texas to California settling in Shafter CA, Irene met and fell in love with the very handsome Jack Hiler also from Shafter (after a blind date). They were married in 1955. In 1957 they moved from Shafter settling in Oxnard CA. They had 2 daughters Debbie & Julie.

Mom was employed as a Bank Teller working for Bank of a Levy In 1977 Jack & Irene decided to try something different. During their semi-retired years, they worked and did a lot of fishing at the
following resorts; Havasua Lake CA, Temple Bar Resort Arizona, Echo Bay Resort Nevada, and Lake Mead Resort Nevada. In 1996 They finally retired coming back to their home in Oxnard.

In 2017 Jack & Irene started Jack’s Metal Detecting Business. The next few years you could always find them both at the parks or the beach looking for buried treasures. It was amazing, all the interesting items he has found over the years!!! Pop found it and mom tested it with her “Gold” & “Diamond” Tester. They were members of the Gold Coast Treasure Hunters Club. Mom’s hobbies were photography which she started while living at Temple Bar AZ. She even had her own dark room to develop her pictures and she took some amazing pictures too!! Temple Bar is where she captured that amazing once in a lifetime “Lightning Picture”. She loved decorating Ostrich, Emmu and Reya Eggs, turning them into beautiful works of art. They both loved going to estate sales, garage sales, 2nd hand stores, always looking for that next big find. They also loved camping, fishing and hunting, making their yearly camping trips to Huntington Lake with the family. Jack & Irene were married for 67 amazing years.
