Heriberto M. Martinez, Sr. (1933-2023)
The family of Heriberto “Beto” M. Martinez, Sr. would like to announce with great sorrow that he has passed away at the age of 90 on Monday, December 4, 2023, in his home surrounded by friends and family in Oxnard, CA.
Heriberto was born on February 24, 1933, in Acuña, Coahuila to Juan and Juliana Martinez. He was a very humble man who had always welcomed others into his life and home. He deeply cared and loved those close to him, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Heriberto worked hard for many years as a landscaper most of his life, however, he found enjoyment in watching the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball games, going on road trips, and barbecuing on holidays and celebrations with his family.
Heriberto touched numerous lives and left an impact on anyone who was lucky enough to have met him. Despite the hardships he endured, Beto always sought out the positive side of things which ultimately led him to be well-known by most people in his life.
Heriberto is survived by his wife, Manuela P. Martinez, who he was married to for over 70 years; his son, Heriberto “Eddie” Martinez, Jr. and spouse, Rosalinda Martinez; his daughter, Maria Briones and spouse, Anthony Briones, Sr.; his daughter, Norma Martinez-Turner and spouse, John Turner; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Beto “Tata” will always be remembered by those who loved him and will be deeply missed. We will love him and celebrate the life he has lived by keeping him in our hearts forever.
