Guillermina “Mema” Calderon, passed away to be with her Heavenly Father on March 15, 2024, at the age of 87 years. Guillermina was born February 10, 1937 in Aguascalientes, Mexico to Digna Guerrero. In 1967, Mema moved to Oxnard, California with her three children seeking a better life for her family. Oxnard was where she met her husband, Ignacio Calderon. They had a son, Ignacio Jr. in October 1969.
Guillermina resided in Oxnard with her family for 57 years. She worked for Stokley’s packing house for several years and became a fulltime housewife afterwards. Family was the most import aspect of her life always putting her family first. She was a devoted Catholic and remained faithful throughout her years and during her lengthy illness. You would always find her with a rosary in her hand or near her bedside. She took her last breath as woman of faith answering God’s call to come home.
Guillermina enjoyed spending time with her family and hosting family functions, celebrations and birthdays. She loved to cook and never hesitated to share her delicious recipes. Guillermina loved to dance, do word find puzzles, go shopping, knit scarves and baby sweaters. When able, she loved to visit her relatives in Aguascalientes, Mexico and enjoyed going to Las Vegas. One of her biggest joys was talking on the phone with her children, friends, cousins, nieces and grandkids.
Guillermina spent her final days surrounded by her loved ones. She will be sadly missed and forever be remembered for her infectious laugh, quick wit and beaming smile! But, most of all for being a loving and supportive mother.
Guillermina was preceded in death by her husband, Ignacio Calderon; son Ignacio Jr., mother, Digna Guerrero; and grandson, Eric Payne. She is survived by daughters, Angelica (James), Carmen (Ciro); son Jose; and niece, Lupe V. (JR) whom she considered a daughter; granddaughter’s, Ashley and Amber (Robert); grandson, Thomas; and great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Jaxon.
