It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George H. Cruce 79, beloved husband, father and grandfather on February 15, 2021 after a brief illness.
George was born on November 24, 1941 to William and Edith Cruce of El Centro, CA. He attended El Centro Union High School. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years. In 1964 he met the love of his life Lupi Portillo. They married shortly after that and raised 1 Daughter (Judi).
George worked at many companies (including Apple) as a Quality Control Supervisor and Inspector and was a member of ASQC.
After his retirement in 2004 he enjoyed reading Sci-Fi books and sitting in his backyard swing and enjoying the day with his dogs. He loved watching Sci Fi and Action movies, especially Star Wars and Star Trek and He also enjoyed watching Harry Potter movies with his Granddaughter Haley. George's dream was to be jettisoned into space when he passed away just like Spock.
George always had a greeting and a smile for everyone and made friends wherever he went. He had few complaints, he loved talking to people and loved good civil political discussions.
One of his greatest pleasures was being with family and eating good food and looking forward to a delicious chocolate dessert. He and Lupi enjoyed their weekly lunches at local restaurant and often went to the Chumash casino and other Casinos in Southern California.
George will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He leaves behind his wife of 56 years Lupi, daughter Judi Henney, son-in-law Todd Henney and granddaughter Haley Evans and many in laws, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister Lillian Cravens and his parents William and Edith Cruce.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. John's Hospital for their care and compassion during his many battles throughout the years.
A private Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on May 22nd, In Oxnard, CA.
~A Parting Guest~
What delightful hosts are they-
Life and Love!
Ligeringly I turn away,
This late hour, yet glad enough
They have not withheld from me
Their high hospitality.
So, with face lit with delight
And all gratitude, I stay
Yet to press their hands and say,
Thanks. - So fine a time! Good Night.
