It is with a heavy heart that on February 14, 2025 Eugene Gonzales was called to rest in eternal peace at the age of 63, where he now watches over us along side his brother John “Pipi’s” Gonzales. Gene was born on October 6, 1961 in Oxnard. He was a beloved son, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his mother Ramona; brothers Joe “Bodi” and JoJo (Lori); sister Lulu; wife Yvette Gutierrez-Gonzales; children: Jason Castro, Gene, Yvonne, and Jaylene Gonzales, Johnna and Juanito; and granddaughter Gabby.
Gene was a retired former City of Oxnard employee with 38 years of service that first started as a lifeguard at the Colonia pool and then managing to work his way up as a supervisor of the Parks and Median Dept. But if you let him tell it, he would say his first job was at 12 years old delivering milk for Chase Bros.
Gene was a die hard 49er fan and most definitely the life of the party Anywhere he went. He enjoyed being outdoors and lending a helping hand in any way he could. He loved listening to music and showing off his favorite country songs. But most importantly Gene loved buying and working on classic cars like his '68 Chevy Caprice or cruising around the city in his '69 Chevy Caprice.
Gene was a “Real Go getter and a Bad Motor Scooter” who left an imprint on the hearts of many whose hearts will now be filled with the memories he’s made over the years with those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Gene’s fun loving charismatic ways about him will never be forgotten and will forever continue to live on in the hearts of us all.
