Enrique Rodriguez 92; also known as Henry, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Enrique was born December 19, 1931, in Oxnard, CA to Jose and Maria Rodriguez and was the fourth child of ten siblings. He graduated from Oxnard High School in 1951, and enlisted in the Air Force that same year. Enrique served his country for 21 years and retired from the military in 1972. His tour of duties included Texas, Mississippi, Utah, Alaska, New Jersey, Germany, California and Japan. Upon leaving the military Enrique worked for the United States Postal Service from 1973 until retirement in 1994.
Enrique was married to Shirley Rodriguez in 1955, until her premature passing in 1967. They had four children, Diann (Jim) Rodriguez-Wyatt, Suzanne (John) Ramirez, Lisa (Jay) Knight and Lawrence (Sherri). He married Lydia (Patsy) Ornelas in 1969 and they became a blended family with her two daughters Cecilia (Rey) Herrera and Barbara Facundus.
Enrique’s favorite pastime hobbies included softball, golf, reading the newspaper and crossword puzzles. Enrique served his Lord at Mary Star of the Sea Church as a Eucharistic Minister, provided religious education and helped organize the annual fiestas for many years. He was also involved with the Knights of Columbus since 1978, was a Fourth Degree member and past Faithful Navigator.
Enrique is survived by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters Sofia Arana and Rosa Mosley and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both wives Shirley and Patsy; parents Jose and Maria; brothers Frank, Stanley, Johnny, Joe, Larry, Tomas; sister Inez Urango and sons-in-law Rey Herrera and John Wood.
Enrique Rodriguez will be remembered as an amazing, loving and patient husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His legacy will live on and in the hearts of those who knew him.
