Elizabeth (Betty) Louise Gerrety passed away peacefully on February 18, 2023, at the age of 88. Betty was the fourth child born to Raymond and Marion (Smith) Gisler. She was born in Oxnard on September 27, 1934. From Gisler and Eastwood farming/ranching families, she was a lifelong resident of Oxnard, except for two years when she lived in Cincinnati, Ohio after first being married. She met her husband, Thomas (Tom) Gerrety, through mutual friends and they were married for 60 years.
She was a member of Santa Clara Parish and attended both Santa Clara Elementary and High Schools, graduating in 1953. Betty and Tom had five children together. She was a dedicated and organized homemaker. Betty loved family gatherings when she spent time with her five children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, along with her six siblings and their families.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, daughter Jane, her sisters Ann Schill and Mary Joan Rankin, and brother Jimmy Gisler.
She is survived by brother Richard Gisler and sisters Grace Pugliese, and Margaret Hinchliff, children Matt Gerrety, Linda Curtis, Joan (Randy) Campbell and Gloria (David) Kinberg. She also leaves 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Per Betty’s request an Eternal Repost Remembrance Mass will be held March 17, 2023, 8 am at Santa Clara Church 323 S. E Street Oxnard, CA, with no other services.
