Dorothy Blankartz Obituary

Dorothy Marie Blankartz, of Port Hueneme, passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2026, after a long illness, at the age of 87. Dorothy was born on December 28, 1938, in Billings, Montana, to Adam Brown and Cerise (Fowlkes) Miles and has been a resident of Ventura County for the last 49 years. Dorothy worked at GMAC for 20 years before retiring.

Dorothy had an artistic side and loved working with arts and crafts as a hobby. She enjoyed golf, bowling, cribbage, Kismet and card games. If something of hers broke or was lost, she would always say, “well, I guess I must of had it too long”! When she’d hear someone complain, she’d say if “wishes were horses, beggars would ride”! She often would cuss in German too (lol).

Dorothy is survived by brothers, James (Maria) Brown, Larry Brown; sister-in-law, Marcelene Dailey; daughters, Vicki L. Hernandez and Laura (David) Marshall; stepchildren, Mike (Martha) Giegling, Doug (Tracy) Giegling, Sandy Giegling, Lori (John) Bockenstedt, Stacy Resetar and Dawn Blankartz; and many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Ronald Lee Blankartz; her parents, Adam Brown and Cerise Miles; sons, Thomas E. Knaub and Joseph D. Knaub; sister, Mary Jane (Brown) Rodriguez; brothers, Gary Miles and Robert (Buddy) Miles; sister-in-law, Loree Brown; daughter-in-law, Tina Knaub; son-in-law, Lee Resetar; nephews, Jack Kukes and Shane Brown; and  granddaughters, Brandy Burrell and Natasha Burrell.

Saying Goodbye to Grandma.

We were happy to have so many years with you around growing up. You held the title of Grandma with such love toward your grandkids. We had so many special connections that we will treasure. All the great times we had doing crafts, carving pumpkins, dying Easter eggs and then hunting for them. We will cherish the memories of eating orange slices with your secret sprinkle ingredient (chili powder), decorating during the holidays, walking the Candy Cane Lane Christmas Lights, watching fireworks, and the Mickey Mouse pancakes you made us along with all the German dishes, cookies and sweets.
Rest well Grandma.  We Love you very much!

Following cremation, a private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to a charity of your choice in Dorothy’s name.

God Bless . . .
