David John Andrew Herren (DJ), 56, died on Nov. 11, 2022. Graveside Memorial will be held on
Tuesday December 27 th at 12:00pm at Mt. View Memorial Park in Barstow, CA. He was a kind
and funny and loving person who will be missed.
David was born on Sept. 25, 1966, to Deryl Herren and Patsy Moen Herren and lived most of
his life in Oxnard, California. He graduated from Santa Clara High School and Pittsburg State
University in Kansas. He worked for the Dept. of Defense (Navy) as a mechanical engineer in
charge of upgrading or removing radar systems and decommissioning ships and then moved
into contracts.
On Oct. 2, 2004, he married Traci Burpo. David loved his “kids” (their dogs), gnomes, Star Trek,
horror movies, comedy and watching History Channel and zombie shows. He spent time
reading, cooking, and hanging out with his friends.
DJ was survived by his Wife, Traci, and “kids” (their dogs) Gracie and Gunner, Royse City, TX.
Father, Deryl (Joyce) Herren, Joplin, MO; Aunt, Linda Newman, Incline Village, NV; Mother in
Law, Kathy Burpo, Royse City, TX; Sister, Marilyn (Constantine) Berdusis and niece and
nephews Ana, Dimi, Alex, Chicago, IL; Brother, Deryl Herren (JR), Oxnard, CA; Sister-in-law,
Tasha (Mark) Langham and nephews Brayden and Colby, Royse, TX; Brother-in-Law, Luther
(Debbie) Burpo, Sayre, OK. He was also survived by many Aunts and Uncles and Nieces and
Nephews.
DJ was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Herren, his maternal and paternal grandparents,
his half-brother David Hopkins (Hop), and his two half-sisters Betsy McCarroll and Marjorie
Holman. He was also preceded in death by his “kids” (dogs) Harley, Gizmo, Ginger and
Chance.
