It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Consuelo Magallanes, on July 26, 2025, in Oxnard. Consuelo brought warmth, joy, and love to all who knew her--often expressing it through the delicious meals she prepared with heart and soul.
She had a true gift for cooking and found great joy in sharing food with family and friends. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, filled with laughter, tradition, and the rich aromas of the Mexican dishes she cherished. Her favorite breakfast was chilaquiles, and she especially enjoyed preparing hearty main dishes like chicharrónes, costillas con chile verde, tamales, mole, menudo, and pozole. One of her greatest joys was pleasing people with the special dishes she prepared with love.
Consuelo also had a love for travel and adventure. She especially treasured her visits to her beloved home state of Zacatecas, which brought her peace, connection, and beautiful memories. She was blessed to have traveled to the Holy Land and several European countries—experiences she held dear to her heart. She took delight in life’s simple pleasures: face creams, stylish new clothes, and anything that made her feel beautiful and vibrant. A devoted Catholic, Consuelo’s faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Her strong spirit and unwavering resilience reflected the deep values she lived by.
One of her proudest accomplishments was becoming a United States citizen after moving to the U.S.—a testament to her determination and strength.
She is survived by her nine children; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild, who will carry forward her legacy of love, resilience, and family.
She deeply missed her beloved mother and husband, who preceded her in death. Their memory remained in her heart until her last breath. We take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with them in eternal peace.
Consuelo will be remembered for her generous heart, her deep love for her family, and the joy she brought to others through her food, her presence, and her unconditional love. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she gave so freely.
