Christal De La Cruz Obituary

Christal Delacruz of Oxnard, 69, went to her heavenly father on September 28, 2024, surrounded by loved ones after her long journey with breast cancer. She was born on January 27, 1955, in Pierre, South Dakota to Willard Dean and Ruby Lois Parks.

Her family moved to Oxnard in 1966 where she met her future husband at Haddock middle school shortly after her arrival. She attended Oxnard high school, where her and Donato could be seen in their red van with white polka dots. They were married in 1970 and welcomed their first-born son, Joseph a year later. In 1976, they welcomed their second son, Don “Aron.”

In 1985, she began her career as a Psychiatric Technician at Camarillo State Hospital, after working as a certified nursing assistant. She was employed until their closure in 1997. Shortly after, she was hired by Casa Pacifica where she remained until her retirement in 2011. Christal was a caring and compassionate soul who made helping others her life’s work.

As an avid camper and beach goer, she could often be seen with her family at some of their favorite “hangouts.” One of her favorite beach spots was Silver Strand, where she would be seen with her beloved husband, children, grandchildren, and other members of the family. A few of her favorite camping spots were Hobson, Jalama, and Faria Beach at Rincon. In her later years she loved going on vacations and cruising down to the beach with her husband in their RV, and every now and then, grabbing her favorite drink; a venti iced dirty chai latte with three pumps of brown sugar, and a cheese danish from Starbucks.

She is survived by her son, Joe, her six grandchildren, Joseph, Emily, Cole, Mackenzie, Ryder and Paige Delacruz, her 3 sisters, Jackie Cook, Lavonne Walters and Cindy Michaels along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Donato Delacruz, her parents, Willard and Ruby, son, Aron, granddaughter Amanda, brother James (Jimmy) Parks and her sister Lois Whiting.
