Cecelia was a Pantry Manager for 19 years at The Colonial House until her retirement in 1982.
Cecelia was a very talented woman with a big heart who enjoyed many activities. She was a very giving lady, always with a smile and a big sense of humor.
For years Cecelia started her day with a cup of coffee and her newspaper to read.
She had many hobbies; her favorite was crocheting which she learned to do as a very young girl and loved making her Afgan crocheted blankets and scarf’s. She loved to enter her crotched blankets into the Ventura County Fair every year and always received a 1st place blue ribbon, one year she received a “Best in show” for her crotched baby blanket, cap and booties. Cecelia looked forward to this every year.
Sewing was another talent, she loved to spend her time sewing her own blouses and always made her grandchildren’s Halloween costumes, and much more.
She was an amazing cook and loved cooking for her family. The list is endless of her favorite dishes like pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving and tamales for Christmas. For Christmas she would feed the homeless with delicious tamales and baked cookies. She was so loving.
She had a talent for playing piano, she learned to play by ear at a young age. Her musical talents go back to when she participated as a student in the Oxnard High School band and played the trombone. She loved music, much like St. Cecelia who is regarded as the patron saint of music.
She was always surrounded by her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren who she adored. Spending time with them was the highlight of her day.
We can go on and on how special Cecelia was, she left her family with so many special loving memories, she will be missed tremendously by many.
