Carlos F. Guerrero of Santa Paula, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born March 2, 1946 in Oxnard to Teresa and John T. Guerrero.
A resident of Oxnard for over 40 years, he attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Elementary School and graduated in 1964 from Santa Clara high school, where he played football and was a part of the 1963 CIF Championship team.
After graduation, he worked at a gas station on the Naval Base for a short time, before enlisting in the Airforce. After serving in the military, he had various occupations. He became a Real Estate Agent, P.E. teacher at Santa Clara Elementary school and was hired with the City of Oxnard at the Water Reclamation Plant, as a Plant Operator where he retired after working for 33 years.
Carlos raised his two children, Stephanie and Mark, to be respectful, responsible, and to have a strong work ethic. Even while working full-time on the graveyard shift, he always found time to coach both his children. As he grew older, he loved traveling with his wife Velia and watching his grandchildren at their sporting events. Well known at the softball fields, he was a familiar face who rarely missed a game.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Teresa and John T. Guerrero, brothers Ben, Jorge, Max, and Joe Guerrero, sisters Rose and MaryLou Guerrero.
He is survived by his loving wife Velia, brother John Guerrero, sisters Connie Guerrero Flores and Terry Barrientos, daughter Stephanie Guerrero, son Mark (Vicky) Guerrero, stepdaughter Melissa (Tudy) Banuelos, stepson David Sibrian, 6 grandchildren Bridget Salazar, Richard (Kim) Vasquez, Miranda and Mia Guerrero, David G (Kat), and Anthony Sibrian and 5 great grandchildren.
