Carlos Barajas, 55 of Oxnard, passed away on May 2, 2021. Born to Elena Fregoso and Adan Barajas in March of 1966, Carlos immigrated to the United States from Tijuana, Mexico at the age of 5 and resided in Venice, CA. He attended Broadway elementary school, Mark Twain Jr high school and graduated from Venice High School. Carlos moved to Oxnard after the death of his father Adan Barajas Sr in 1986.

Carlos completed a trade school and received a certificate in welding. After the passing of his mother in November of 1988 he attended Oxnard College, where he met his wife Leticia of 29 years, while studying in the Puente program. Carlos was blessed with three children: Sabrina 29, Carlos Jr 25, and Tabitha 17. He was a doting father who loved his children but also all his nieces and nephews.

He was a cheerleader to every activity, accomplishment and goal achieved by his children. Carlos was a kind and beloved brother who graciously assisted his siblings and extended family whenever possible. Carlos was an introvert to the outside world, but to his family he was a kind jubilant soul who loved to smile. He was a man of few words but was able to make anyone laugh with his famous “Dad jokes”. He imparted his wisdom through his collection of analogies.

He was employed by Jones Intercable in 1992. Ever the hard worker, he worked his way from dispatcher to a master cable maintenance technician. He medically retired from the cable industry in September of 2017. He enjoyed hiking, bowling, soccer, basketball and traveling. He was a diehard Los Angeles Laker fan. Carlos was an active member in his community coaching AYSO soccer and giving back in anyway he could. He enjoyed being in nature whether it was camping, hiking, fishing or biking. Being born into a large family of 12 siblings, he appreciated and valued family gatherings no matter the size. He was well traveled and had set foot all over North America by cruise, flight and road trip. He was a TV enthusiast with a curious mind for technology.

Carlos was diagnosed with ALS in March of 2018, throughout his fight he never let his sickness dampen his spirits and he continued to keep a positive demeanor and outlook on life. Carlos radiated a smile that was infectious and could light up any room.

Carlos is survived by his loving wife Leticia, his daughter Sabrina Barajas of Ventura, CA, son Carlos Barajas Jr. who is currently Active-Duty Military in Ansbach, Germany, and daughter Tabitha Barajas of Oxnard.
