Obituary Image

Bernarda “Rosie” Garcia, 82, of Oxnard passed away peacefully after a long illness on November 10th, 2019.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Domingo and Maria Lopez; and brother, Bernardo “Barney” Lopez.

Rosie is survived by her husband of almost 55 years, Javier S. Garcia; sister-in-law, Norma Lopez; her children, Angel “Steve” (Grace), Javier Jr. (Bonnie), and Adrian; granddaughters, Vanessa, Danielle, Samantha, Kassandra, Adrienne, and Ashley; grandsons, Javier III, Christopher, and Matthew McDonald (Ari); great-grandsons, Andrew and Gio; great grand-daughters, Leah, and Emberly McDonald; and numerous other family members, extended family, and friends.

Rosie was a devoted wife, mother, and most importantly Nani.  While she was a parsley sorter at CVC factory for more than twenty years, she was also a homemaker for her family and would do anything she could for them.   She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially tamales, menudo, sopa de fideo, potato salad, salsa, and chicken mole.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She loved to sing, dance, and did so whenever she could.   She will forever be remembered for her kindness and the way her beautiful smile lit up any room she walked into.  She loved everyone, was loved by all, and will be missed dearly.  She made it known that she did not want anyone to shed any tears over her passing, instead she wanted everyone to enjoy life and celebrate.

Visitation is scheduled from 6pm to 10pm on Wednesday, November 20th at Reardon Funeral Home, 511 North A Street, Oxnard.  Mass is scheduled at 10am on Thursday, November 21st at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 463 West Pleasant Valley Road, Oxnard.  A funeral service and interment are scheduled for 10:00am on Friday, November 22nd at Santa Clara Cemetery, 2370 North H Street, Oxnard.
