Beatrice “Bea” Flores, 93, of Oxnard, California, passed on April 27, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born to the late Cirilo (Kiko) and Francis Perez on February 11, 1929, in Santa Paula, California. Beatrice attended school in the Santa Paula area and helped the household by caring for her 3 siblings.
She married Manuel R. Flores in 1950, and they lived together in Santa Paula until 1960, when they moved to Oxnard. Beatrice is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Manuel, two children: Olga Cruickshank (husband: Gordon), of Tucson, Arizona; Michael (wife: Margo), of Plumas Lake, California. She is also survived by a grandson: Timothy Bucher of Virginia Beach, Virginia and a sister: Velia Guerrero of Santa Paula, California, along with and many relatives throughout the country.
Beatrice was predeceased by her brothers: Rodolfo and Richard Perez. Beatrice was an accomplished chef/cook/baker, and took pride in her meals, daily and every holiday She loved the holiday seasons! Beatrice also donated many hours to Santa Clara Elementary school, where her two children attended. She helped with countless fundraisers and charity events at the school. She also served as a chaperone on numerous class field trips. Beatrice is remembered as a selfless, honest, caring, and peaceful being, always putting her family and others first. Beatrice’s infectious smile and laugh will be missed deeply. We love you, Mama Bea!
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the Santa Clara Church. The burial will take place immediately following the service at Santa Clara Cemetery, in Oxnard.
