Barbara Diane (Roost) Sweetland

Barbara Roost Sweetland, 91 of Oxnard passed away peacefully on January 21, 2022. Barbara was born on January 27, 1930, in Lansing Michigan to parents William G. Roost and Gladys B. Roost ( Rath). Barbara graduated from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL in 1952. She married John W. Sweetland on June 25, 1954. She taught elementary school in the 1950s in Lowell, Michigan, Lansing, Michigan, and Guam, Marianas Islands. After living in Los Angeles she moved to Oxnard where she was a resident for 32 years. She was a member of the Westwood Presbyterian Church and Maritime Museum Of Ventura County. Barbara was an avid traveler, having visited over 50 countries. Barbara is survived by her loving sons John Sweetland( Marie) Colorado Springs, CO, Peter Sweetland (Leslie) Temecula, CA, Tim Sweetland (Rosanne) Pasadena, CA. Also by her beloved grandsons Michael Sweetland Austin, TX, and Nick Sweetland Ann Arbor, MI. Barbara was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, Brother William, and Son David Paul. Barbara will be missed tremendously and always remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know her. Barbara was entrusted to the care of Reardon Funeral Home 511 N.A Street Oxnard, CA 93030.
