Barbara Stiles Obituary

Our hearts are broken today we have lost our Beautiful Barbara Ann Stiles.
She passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on December 13, 2023, in Oxnard after a short illness. Barbara was born January 13, 1935, in Long Branch, New Jersey to the parents of William & Ada Francis. Where she joined Brothers Lawrence & William and Sister Betty. Barbara graduated in 1952 from Red Bank High School in New Jersey. Barbara loved to roller skate, and you could find her and best friend Gladys at the roller rink all the time. That’s where Barbara meet Houston Stiles for the first time skating!! Where she literally had to pick him up off the floor since he couldn’t skate!! But oh, he was so handsome!! Houston and his buddy Bob were both in the Army. Of course, Barbara and Gladys loved their men in uniform! Barbara fell in love with Houston & Gladys was in love with Bob!! September 6, 1953, Houston & Barbara, Gladys & Bob were married in a Double Wedding Ceremony in New Jersey. 1954 the Army sent both couples to Fort Huachuca AZ. Which is where Houston and Barbara welcomed their Daughter Lindi Sue (Suzy).

1955 the army discharged both Houston & Bob. Houston & Barbara moved to California settling in Oxnard. Bob & Gladys headed to Texas. Where both couples continued their friendship throughout the years. 1955 Houston & Barbara welcomed their son Dwayne. That same year they purchased their first home in Port Hueneme. When the kids were older, Barbara worked at Blackstock School in the cafeteria where her precious Dwayne always got seconds!! 1969 they purchased Chapin Equipment Rentals in Oxnard and for the next 30 years Houston & Barbara worked side by side. They were members of the California Rental Association where they met many lifelong friends and enjoyed the Rental Conventions along with the RV campout trips. 1973 they moved to Camarillo. Where they hosted all the family get togethers. One in particular was Easter, with the famous Easter Egg Hunt where Barbara would hide $20.00 bill. She was very creative in her hiding spots. They weren’t easy to find, but Dwayne usually did!!

In 1999 After 30 years as owners of Chapin Equipment Rentals, Houston and Barbara retired, moving to Arroyo Grande to Their 10-acre Paradise known as the “Stiles Ranch”.
Unfortunately, while they were in the process of building their new home Houston passed away, leaving Barbara to finish the project they started, and she did!! They were married in 1953 and their love continued for 46 years. Barbara continued to enjoy life in Arroyo Grande for the next 22 years. 2021 Barbara moved back to Oxnard to be closer to family. Barbara was well known for her beautiful white hair which was always styled so perfectly each week!! She received so many compliments on her beautiful hair. They may not of remembered her name, but they defiantly knew her hair. She was and always will be one classy lady with style!! Even her sunglasses matched her outfit!! She loved to travel and spend time with her family.

Barbara is survived by her son Dwayne & wife Debbie. 4 grandchildren Josh, Carly, Darryl & Denise 5 great grandchildren Summer, Brodi, Isabella, Dylan & Chayzen Along with many nieces and nephews. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Houston, Daughter Suzy, Parents William & Ada, Sister Betty, Brothers Lawrence & William.
