On the evening of January 16th, 2025, Arturo Rivas Sr. returned peacefully into our Lord’s resting arms, aged 81, surrounded by his loving family. Arturo was born on September 1, 1943, in Edinburg, Texas. He grew up there with his three brothers: Anselmo, Esteban, and Jose. Arturo moved to Oxnard, California as a young adult, where he resided until his passing. Arturo lived a vibrant, adventurous life! At the age of sixteen he was a rodeo rider. Later, a professional boxer who would go on to use his talent and knowledge to train and mentor youths. Always a hard worker, he was a lifelong welder by trade and an avid fisherman at heart. In 1966 he married the love of his life Georgina Trejo Garcia. He is survived by their children (and spouses); Arturo Jr. (Bb), Lupe (Juan), Felix (Jenny), and Brenda (Jose), grandchildren; Albert, Julian, Jonathan, Nahdia, Jessie, Blaise, Sabat, Nesta, Sebastian, Hailey, Giselle, Xitlali, Logan, Rocket, Olive, Elvis, and Amelia, great-grandchildren; Allister, Grace, Nah'lyn and Dre'lyn, and preceded in death by son, Jesse.
He was a spark in so many people's lives and will be truly missed.
Services will be held at Living Hope Church, 755 Bard Rd. Port Hueneme on Saturday March 1st, 2025, at 1pm followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall.
