With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Armida Borrego Gonzales, a loving mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother who passed away with family at her side on March 26, 2025 at the age of 90. Born on February 21, 1935 in Santa Paula to Francisco and Adelina Borrego, Armida touched the lives of many in her community of El Rio while serving as a teacher’s aide at El Rio Elementary School for 35 years.
Armida will be remembered for her welcoming smile, her trips to Las Vegas and Chumash Casino, her love of cruises, going out to eat, watching her Dodgers, and playing cards and Scrabble with her sister Stella.
Armida will be deeply missed by her sons: Rudy (spouse Nathalie), Daniel, Charles, and Robert (spouse Mary); daughter and best friend, Darlene (spouse Miguel); sister Stella Perea; the true joys in her life: 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie; son Richard; and siblings: Frank, Tony, Hector, Bobby and Ernestine.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Reardon Funeral Home, 511 North A Street, Oxnard, followed by a reception at her home in El Rio.
