Anthony Welle Obituary
Tony Welle, drummer and Dodger fan, finished his gig here on earth on Sunday, July 27, in Ventura after a three year struggle with cancer. He was 48 years old. Tony is preceded in death just three months earlier by his dad, George, of Ventura, and is survived by him mom Carol and his brother Jason.
Tony was born in Covina and raised in Valencia, where he attended Saugus and Bowman high schools. Tony joined the U.S. Army in 1984 and served four years, including two years overseas in West Germany, where he discovered a world of truly great beer. Returning home, Tony earned a B.S. from DeVry, and worked many years in the telecom industry before starting his own consulting firm specializing in private investigation.
Tony loved the outdoors and spent countless hours in the Eastern Sierra hiking, fishing, mountain biking, and skiing. Tony was a skilled drummer and played for several SoCal cover bands, including OC/DC, Flail, and Identity Crisis. He was also a lifelong Dodgers fan, and his family is happy the Dodgers beat the Giants on Tony's last night on Earth.
Funeral services were held at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church on Saturday, August 2, and burial will be private at a later date in the Eastern Sierra.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Friends of the Inyo, Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association, or The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
