In loving memory of our mother Amelia Hernandez who passed away peacefully at the age of 100 on December 10, 2025 at her home in Oxnard, surrounded by her family.
Amelia was born May 16, 1925 in Jalisco, Mexico to Filomeno and Maria de Refugio (Cuca) Garcia. She was a resident of Ventura County for 60 years. Amelia met her husband Antonio in Jalisco, they fell in love and married on March 8, 1943. They had 15 children, three passed away as infants and twelve grew up healthy.
Our mother was the rock of the family. Her spirit shaped our lives and we will forever be grateful for all her kindness and love she shared for her family. She was a person that appreciated all that life gave her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother who brought warmth and love to everyone. She enjoyed gardening, singing, and loved birds, especially waking up hearing their music. But the most important was a blessing that she gave everyone by making the sign of the cross when they were leaving.
Amelia was a very hard worker. Besides being a homemaker, she worked at a fish cannery, parsley produce company and Egg City Chicken Ranch in Moorpark, just to mention a few.
Her surviving children are: Carmen, Tony, Luie, Amy, Hugo, Jackie, Ralph, Annabel, Vickie, and Yolie. Amelia is preceded in death by her husband Antonio; son Jesus; and daughter Esperanza.
When God created our mother, He created the most beautiful and caring mom. We will always admire, cherish and forever be grateful for having such an amazing mother. May she rest in peace.
