Alfred "Sonny" "Nino" Mora

Alfred "Sonny" Mora, age 82, passed away on January 15, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. He was affectionately known as "Nino" among family and friends.

The son of John and Carmen Mora, Sonny was born on December 16, 1939, in Springer, New Mexico and grew up in El Rio, California. He graduated from Oxnard High School in 1957.

Sonny was a United States Army Veteran, Fraternal Order of the Eagles member since 1968, and an American Legion Member. He worked as a Communication Management Specialist at Point Mugu Naval Base for over 28 years before retiring. He was an avid sports fan declaring the Rams, Dodgers, and USC Trojans among his favorite teams.

Sonny was preceded in death by parents John and Carmen Mora, brother Frank Mora, and sister Dolores Mora. He is survived by a wife, Sally, and a brother Rick Mora (wife Lydia) and several nieces and nephews.

Sonny was known for his great sense of humor, funny jokes, wise cracks, a great memory, and his kind and generous heart. Often hosting what would later become known as the annual Chile Roast, usually held in August.

On behalf of Sonny, the Mora family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Oxnard Family Circle for 14 years of care, fun activities, and laughter which brought him many moments of joy. He truly benefitted from participating in the many planned activities the facility held over the years.

The Mora family sincerely acknowledges and is thankful for Sonny's wonderful caregiver and sister-in-law Lydia Higgins for overseeing his care and helping him with activities of daily living. Along with their niece Francine for her tireless efforts to provide any extra support when called upon for her much-loved "Nino".

Thank you, "Nino" for being such a special yet big part of our lives, not only for the immediate family but for all those who loved you. You are the ultimate "Godfather" and will be greatly missed.

Visitation, Tuesday, January 25, 2022, 02:00 PM - 05:00 PM at the Reardon Funeral Home, 511 North A St. Oxnard, CA 93030. Recitation of the Rosary, Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 03:00 PM also at the Reardon Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Santa Clara Church, 323 South E St. Oxnard, CA 93030.

Interment following funeral service on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Santa Clara Cemetery 2370 North H St.
Oxnard, CA 93036
