Albert "Beto" Valenzuela a longtime Oxnard resident passed away on December 23, 2022 at the age of 87 after a brief illness. Albert was born in El Rio, California on June 1, 1935 to Paul and Irene Lopez Valenzuela. He was a resident of Ventura County for 87 years. Albert began his career as a Laborer, then went on to be a Backhoe Operator with the Operating Engineers Local 12 for 32-years. During that time he started his career as a Longshoreman with ILWU Local 46 for the next 46 years until he retired in December 2010.
Albert enjoyed being outdoors, working in his garden and caring for his many fruit trees, watching the LA Dodgers, and eating out with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Albert will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his sons Fred (Christina), Arthur, and Mark (Sylvia) Valenzuela, and daughters Diane Lyons and Eileen Valenzuela, 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brother Martin Valenzuela, and numerous nieces and nephews. Albert was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Irene Valenzuela, sister Pauline Ortiz, and brother Edward Valenzuela.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:30 on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, with recitation of the rosary at 6:30, at Reardon Funeral Home, 511 North A St., Oxnard. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Santa Clara Catholic Church, 323 South E St., Oxnard. Burial to follow at Santa Clara Cemetery, Oxnard.
